Another Primark Haul

Hi all, I hope you're enjoying another lovely long weekend, I certainly am! I went out straight from work with a few colleagues on Thursday, annoyingly I ended up going home early as I had a migraine, must go see the Doc for a change of pill! Friday I went into the village for a street party, it was fab! The wedding was also obviously fab! I went shopping with the girls today to spend the rest of my birthday vouchers, here is what I bought:

my feet are getting old, not me, just my feet, and I can no longer wear high heels. I thought this £12 pair of shoes would be ideal for my old feet!

I've been after this necklace for a while after seeing it on Kirsti's blog, to my joy they finally had it in Cwmbran today

love these bangles

I get tempted by these every time I see them at the till, today I caved!
I'm glad I caved, they are amazing! The cherry is my personal fave, the scent is spot on! Even though it looks tinted it comes out clear

Tomorrow the girls and I are off into Cardiff for my sister's birthday night out - can't wait!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

30 Day Challenge, No.27

27 – A photo of your favourite item of clothing

This is so difficult! Obviously it has to be a dress, I don't know if you've noticed but I live in dresses! I have so many pretty dresses so its difficult to pick just one!

I decided to go for this dress because it is my 'go to' dress. If I'm having a 'fat day' or just can't decide what to wear I always fall back on this dress. Its from Primark originally but I snapped it up for a bargain price on Ebay! It really flatters my figure and I love the print in it.

NOTD Barry M Mushroom & 17 Matte Top Coat

Friday, April 29, 2011
Hi everyone, happy free day off work!

I hope that you have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the Royal Wedding today, I certainly have! I watched it in my house, decorated with bunting, then went up to the village for a street party. It was amazing! There was so much on for the kids plus there was a free Hog Roast and BBQ. The village was decorated so well with bunting and flags, there was even a DJ banging the tunes out! Today has made me feel so proud to be British and also so proud of my community!

What a fab wedding! Kate looked gorgeous, as was expected! I have also fallen in love with Harry, he is just too cute!

Anyway, onto the point of the post! I didn't bother with the 'Royal' nails that most are sporting as I didn't have the colours needed, so I had a play around with two of my new polishes instead.

one coat

one coat with 17 Matte top coat
I was in a bit of a rush so only had chance to do one coat. It came out okay considering it was only the one coat. The matte top coat dried super quickly. I'm not quite sure yet if I like the matte effect, it is growing on me and I'm looking forward to trying it with other colours, I think it will look better with pastel colours.

Do you like the matte polishes?

30 Day Challenge, No.26

26 – A celebrity you don’t like, and why

I may be hated for this because she has been in the public eye quite a bit today, but for me the focus on her confirmed that I really don't like her. Victoria Beckham. You're at, probably the wedding of the century, crack a smile love, it won't hurt!

Yes, she looks amazing, but crack a smile love!

On another note Kirsti over at The Notebook started this challenge today so go take a nose!

Sleek Palette Swatches & some bargains for you!

Wednesday, April 27, 2011
Hi all, I hope you're okay. I'm loving this three day working week, last day tomorrow until Tuesday - wayhey!

I'm really looking forward to the Royal Wedding! They are holding a street party in the village, its free and they are providing a Hog Roast and a BBQ - I can't wait! I haven't been up there yet this week but apparently it looks fab, bunting everywhere! What is everyone else doing for the Royal Wedding?

Sleek Palettes

I recently purchased three Sleek palettes in a blog sale, they were three for £10 so I purchased Acid, Chaos and Sunset.

Sunset 568

Chaos 577

Acid 570

I'm pleased with these palettes overall and can't wait to try experimenting with the colours!

Sunset has some absolutely stunning colours for, as the names suggest, the summer! The colours in this palette are really shimmery and natural, I can see this being my go to palette for summer days.

Chaos also has some gorgeous colours, some a bit bolder than Sunset, I can see Chaos featuring quite a lot in my evening make up.

Acid really isn't very likely to see much light, I didn't think this one would be for me when I first purchased it as some of the colours are OTT, they may come in handy for fancy dress! I looked past the neon yellow, orange and pink though and realised that there are actually some really pretty colours in amongst the vulgar ones! I particularly like the blues in this palette.

Bargain watch!

So many shops are jumping on the bandwagon and offering discounts for the Royal Wedding, here are a few that I know of:

New Look - £15 off £60 spend with code NLROYWED expires 02 May 2011
Debenhams - 15% off with code PU6P expires 13 May 2011
The Body Shop - 30% off with code ROYAL30 expires 02 May 2011, they also have a buy one get one half price sale which ends on 05 May 2011, as far as I can see this runs right across the store and is applied automatically at checkout, it can be any two items, you get the cheapest free, both discounts can be applied to the same shop so this is a SUPER DEAL!!!
La Senza - 15% off with code Wedding Fever expires 02 May 2011
Dorothy Perkins - 10% off sign up to their newsletter and enter they email you the code

Happy shopping!!

30 Day Challenge, No. 24

24 – A song to match your mood

This is really difficult! I'm no good at music! I love loads of songs but can never remember what they're called and who sings them! Ohh eeecck...thinking cap where are you??

Right, I'm in a real random mood today, as Spencer is well aware after watching me dancing around the house and shaking me booty to no music!

Soo random, booty shaking, I guess my song would have to be Beyonce - Single Ladies. I love dancing around to that song!

23 – The next plan you have coming up that you’re really excited for

I had a sudden realisation in work today that I go on holiday next week - so that is what I'm excited for! We booked the holiday a while ago through the Sun. When we booked it it seemed as if it was ages away so I was quite shocked when looking through my calendar today and seeing that it is next Friday! We're going to the Isle of Wight, which is a place I've never visited before so I'm very much looking forward to it, fingers crossed the sunshine remains!

I'm also going on a night out in Cardiff this Sunday for my big sister's birthday which I'm looking forward to.

Recent Days out in Wales - White Castle, Big Pit and a ride on a steam train!

Monday, April 25, 2011
Hi all

I hope you've had a fab Easter and are enjoying another lazy day today :) I'm not overly enthusiastic about returning to work tomorrow, but at least its only for three days! Have you all been making the most of the weekend? If you've seen my week in photos you will have seen that I've had a busy week!

I've decided that I want to see more of Wales and the surrounding areas. I live in such a beautiful area but never appreciate the things on my door step! This past week I have been a bit of a tourist in my own back yard and have loved it!

First up Spencer took me to White Castle for my birthday. It is named White Castle because it used to be white, most of the white has faded now but you can still see patches of white on the walls. It is situated between Abergavenny and Monmouth. The place is gorgeous. It is in the middle of no where and it is so peaceful (all except for the little kid that didn't shut up!!!) The views are amazing! It cost £2.80 each to enter which isn't too bad. If you were to visit I would suggest taking a picnic and planning something else to do with the day as you couldn't really spend a whole day there.

My partner's brother who lives in Wokingham is going out with a girl who lives in Istanbul, Turkey. They both came over to Wales for the weekend. This was her first visit to Wales and her first time meeting the family! He wanted to show her as much of Wales as he could. They didn't get to do everything they wanted as her suitcase ended up going to Cyprus instead of Heathrow, this meant coming to Wales in the evening instead of the morning, which meant missing out on their shopping trip to Cardiff. We went to Big Pit and Pontypool & Blaenavon railway with them yesterday, these are both literally a 15 minute drive from my house and it was the first time I'd been - shameful! There were people there from Essex and London, I live down the road and its taken me 26 years to visit!

Big Pit is very popular and quite a famous place. It is an old coal mine, admission is free woohoo! A guide takes you on a tour, which for me was actually quite scary! They give you a helmet with a light on and a big heavy belt with the battery pack - don't bother making an effort with how you look if you go here, you can't hold onto your dignity! You go down in an old lift, which I found quite claustrophobic and didn't really like. You are then under ground in the old coal mines. Some of the ceilings are quite low and it is really dark, you do all have your lights on your helmets so can see okay. We went on the first tour of the morning which was real quiet, if I went on a later busier tour I think it would have been hard for me to deal with. At one point they make you all turn your lights out so that you can experience the complete darkness that the 6 year old kids were made to work in all those years ago - it is horrific. This place is a real eye opener and I can't believe I have never been before! Despite nearly having panic attacks and being made to wear a horrible helmet I thoroughly enjoyed it there and highly recommend it to other people. It really is something everyone should experience. The guides have all worked in mines at one point in their life. Our guide was fantastic, he really knew his stuff and he was very friendly and funny.

You aren't allowed to take your cameras or phones underground with you, which is why there aren't any photos of that!

We then went up to Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway and rode on a steam train. This isn't really something that interests me but Spencer's father is really into it, he volunteers at this railway as their chairman. It costs £6 each to have a ride on the train!!! I thought this was very expensive but after getting into Big Pit for free it kind of evened it up. This is quite close to Big Pit and they are eventually hoping to extend the line so that the train goes up to Big Pit, this will bring a lot of needed money to them. Everyone that works there are volunteers and are real passionate about restoring the old lines. The views here are amazing! You can stick your head out of the windows when the train is moving, which is fun! The train goes up the line which takes you to a pub, you can get on and off the train as often as you like so could get off and spend a few hours in the pub! It goes back down the line then, back past the station and keeps going down. You can also get off here but we couldn't really see any reason for you to get off here. When we spoke Spencer's father later he explained that if you get off there it is a short walk into Blaenavon town which some people like to visit.
Spencer's mother then did us an amazing Welsh themed tea! We had Welsh Rarebit to start (which is basically a glorified cheese on toast), for our main we had a roast dinner with Welsh Lamb and leeks, pudding we had apple crumble (I don't know if there is any Welsh theme here!). I had some Welsh Cakes left over from my garden party so took them up to have with tea later on. My friend Laura makes the best Welsh Cakes ever and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them!

So all in all I've had a very Welsh week!!
