How do you Konad?

Wednesday, August 31, 2011
Hi guys, I hope you don't mind the late night post! I wasn't going to post tonight as we went to watch The Inbetweeners (hilarious by the way!). I've just had a cup of coffee and an wide awake so thought I'd pop up this post that I took the pictures for the other day!

Konad...how do you use it?

After several failed stamping attempts I decided to sit down with a few nail varnishes and Konad plate m83 to see if I could get the stamp to transfer with any of them, the results weren't very successful as you can see below...

MUA - Hardly there

Eyeko - quite promising but only part of the design

17 - no transfer at all!

Rimmel - this one picked up a lot of the image clearly, but missed parts

Barry M - hardly there

ELF - picked up a lot of the design but again missed chunks

No.7 - just a tiny dot!

This is where you guys come in, how do you Konad? Am I doing something wrong or do I just have to admit defeat and buy the Konad Special paints? Do you have any Konad hints and tips?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Day in Weight Watchers

Tuesday, August 30, 2011
Hi guys, how are you all today? I woke up knackered this morning but thankfully survived the day in work! I'm off work on Friday as I have a family party that evening and friends coming to visit Saturday so decided I needed the extra day to get the sleeping arrangements ready for them!

As you may already know I attended my first Weight Watchers meeting on Wednesday. I went away for the weekend and attended a food and beer festival which meant I didn't stick to it religiously! I also bought cheese & Marmite bread at the food festival, amazing, I couldn't not eat it! That has all gone now though so I decided today was the day, no time like the present and all that, and divided straight in!

I'm really pleased with how I have done on my diet today and I still have 7 of my 29 daily points left that won't get used now.

This is what I've eaten today...

7:50 am
Weight Watchers Vanilla Yoghurt - 1 Pro Point
1 Banana - 0 Pro Points

10:50 am
Weight Watchers Ginger and dark chocolate bar - 2 Pro Points

1:30 pm
Weight Watchers Cottage Pie - 5 Pro Points
Can of Diet Coke - 0 Pro Points

 6:00 pm
Mussels in garlic butter sauce - 3 Pro Points
Half a pack of Uncle Ben's Chicken and Mushroom Risotto (made with water) - 6 Pro Points
Half a grilled pepper (garlic butter sauce already taken into account with the Mussels) - 0 Pro Points

 7:00 pm
Nescafe 3 in 1 Coffee - 2 Pro Points

7:00 pm
Weight Watchers Vanilla Creamed Rice - 3 Pro Points

Total Pro Points used - 22

That leaves me with 7 Pro Points left today which I won't use as I'm full! At the moment I'm feeling quite happy about this whole diet business.

Would you like to see more posts like this? Are you following Weight Watchers or have you ever followed the plan?

RAK - Random acts of Kindness

Monday, August 29, 2011
I'm excited to announce that I am going to be holding an RAK! If you aren't sure what exactly an RAK is you can read my blog posts about the last two that I have taken part in, here and here. The first RAK that I took part in was organised by Kelly and the second by Dee, both of who have given me their blessing to hold my own - thanks guys!

I will be teaming people up into pairs who will be buying for each other. When I have matched everyone I will send you your 'partners' blog URL and Twitter name (if applicable) so that you can find out a little bit about them. If I don't have an even number of participants I will first try and rope someone else into it, or, unfortunately it may mean that I won't be able to count the last person to sign up.

If you would like to take part then please comment below with the following information:

Full name:

You will be required to spend £10 on your 'partner', not including postage.
You must be 16 or over to participate as you will need to give out your address.
If you wish to take part you must comment below by Monday 05 September.
I will let everyone know who they are paired up with by Wednesday 07 September at the latest, from that date you must make sure that your package has been shipped to the recipient within one month, so by 07 October. I'm leaving it for a whole month to accomdate different people's paydays.
This is open to the UK and Ireland only, if anyone outside of these countries wishes to participate then please contact me via Twitter or email and I will find out if anyone is prepared to pay the extra postage.

Collective Haul

As I'm sure you're probably aware by now, I have a huge problem, I am addicted to spending. It really needs to stop but I can't resist pretty things, especially bargains!!

I've bought loads this past week, some because they were bargains, others because I went shopping in Reading and felt obliged!

ASDA polka dot dress, reduced to £5

new bowl for Flick, she isn't a kitten but it was reduced to £2 and I'm a sucker for pink!

new bowl for Kitty, this was more expensive than Flick's at around the £5 mark, but it is so apt I had to get it!

Holland & Barrett, the box on the left was a free sample, the tablets cost around £6.50

MAC foundation and pump, around the £23 mark, you can see my review of the product and the whole MAC experience here

There isn't anywhere near me that sells OPI (not that I know of anyway). I saw Sally's in Wokingham so decided to treat myself to my first full size bottle! This cost £10.99

I needed something in which to store my palettes so decided to get the famous Paperchase butterfly letter holder, along with a little notebook to keep a note of my Weight Watchers dieting. The palette storage was about £8 and the book about £3.

The brogues were on sale in Peacocks for £8, I have a new found love for brogues so couldn't resist these! The socks were 3 for 2

Bobbles, £0.50 Primark. I'm sure the butterfly will annoy me if it doesn't fall off before I break it off!

Tan fur trimmed boots, Primark £15. These are so cute I couldn't leave them there for that price!

Necklace, £3 Primark.

PJ bottoms, £5. A few of us were eyeing these up at the Bristol blogger meet as they are so warm and comfy! (They're fleecy) I saw them again and had to buy them, I forgot to take my PJs to Reading with me so this was the perfect excuse!

PJ top, £3 Primark.

Scarf, £3 Primark

My favourite bow tights have just laddered so I picked up these two pairs, £2.50 each, Primark.

Coloured tights, £2 each Primark

Three tier cake stand, £4.99 Robert Dyas. Its pretty, enough said.

What have you been buying lately? As you can see from my purchases I am attracted to a lot of orange lately and am so pleased to see this colour everywhere.

My first proper MAC Experience

Hi guys, how are you all? Have you been enjoying the bank holiday weekend? Today is my Sunday, so what better to do on a pretend Sunday than blog? Nothing!

Whilst in Reading I decided to brave the MAC counter. I've been wanting to get colour matched for a while now but have always been put off by bitchy sales assistants/the shop being too busy/unhelpful sales assistants. I saw that the MAC shop in The Oracle was really quiet so decided to give it a go. The girl who served me was lovely. She asked me to remove all my make-up and did a full face of foundation for me after matching the colour to my skin. She started with moisturiser, then primer, then applied the foundation with a brush. She talked me through everything and recommended certain products. She was in now way pushing me to buy MAC products and even recommended some Body Shop products.

After applying the foundation she asked if I was happy with it but in no way pressurised me to buy it. She was obviously happy that I did decided to buy it but didn't put any pressure on me to buy that or any additional products. This has made me a lot more likely to visit that store again.

I was matched to a NW15 and bought the Studio Fix foundation. I also paid a little extra for the pump, altogether it cost me £22 and something pence or around that.

The foundation has good lasting power and quite full coverage. It applies nicely and doesn't leave my skin oily which a lot of foundations do.

Blended into my hand.

I've always been a high street make-up girl not really seeing the point in paying for expensive make-up brands. Since starting blogging and seeing so many people rave about MAC I had to try it out to see what the fuss is all about, I hate to admit it, but I may now have caught the MAC bug!

Do you like to pay more for high end or do you prefer to stick to high street?

Week in Photos #26

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Flick loves it when we get the laser pen out, she goes absolutely crazy chasing it around the house!

I was quite annoyed when the OPIs I ordered from ASOS arrived like this! I have emailed them but am still waiting for a reply!

Weight Watchers chocolate éclairs :) Only 2 pro points in these

 Yum :)

Spencer bought a bike and decided to be a big kid and ride it up and down the road, to test it.

Flick being cute, it really is quite random for her to be so chilled out with us

Yum tea one night in the week

The poor girls had to go to the vets for their annual check up and jabs, love 'em!

The most amazing cakes ever! Mini Oreo and Peanut Butter cheesecakes, recipe to follow!

We visited Spencer's brother in Reading this weekend where we attended Wokingham festival

These guys headlined and were actually really good! They have something to do with Simon Cowell so I was referring to them as Simon's bitches all night.

When we got home Kitty was more interested in the cheese and marmite bread that we purchased than us!

Like I could be bothered to cook proper food when I got home this evening, pizza o'clock!

Random Instagram photos on the way home

Fat booth!

Nuttella, banana and strawberry Crepe at Wokingham festival :)

The feast Spencer cooked up for Friday night tea (it was shared between four of us, we aren't that greedy!)

Playing on the iPads in the Apple shop

Smoked salmon, cream cheese, lemon juice and pepper baguette

I joined Weight Watchers in the week, as I was away this weekend I haven't really started it properly yet (hence the gorgeous food photos!)

Have you been up to anything exciting this week?
