Festive NOTD

Friday, December 16, 2011
I was so excited to see the arrival of my festive nail foils yesterday. I ordered them from eBay on Sunday night and hoped that they would turn up in time for the Xmas Blogger Meet, which is of course tonight!

I've never attempted any kind of nail wraps before so I set to work straight away. The pack contains 16 foils so I did an accent nail and used 8 of the wraps, which means that I can use the remaining 8 for my works Christmas party next week.

For the accent nail I used two coats of GOSH Holographic and lots of coats of Rimmel Disco Ball.

It took me roughly two hours to do! I did stop for food during that two hours and it certainly didn't seem to take that long. As I said though it is my first time applying any of this type of thing so I'm hoping that it will get easier with practice.

As you can see the wraps have a lovely holographic shine to them.

These were taken after my shower this morning and I'm very pleased to say that they are still intact! The packet states that you remove them with warm soapy water, which made me worry about them coming off in the shower.

They certainly aren't perfect, they're quite rough around the edges but I'm no expert and I'm not claiming to be. I am pleased with how they have come out for my first attempt.

These were unbelievably cheap, they cost just £1.89 with free delivery and there are loads of designs to choose from. I ordered mine from eBay on Sunday night and they arrived yesterday (Thursday). I've rushed this post up this morning as you may still have time to order them for delivery before Christmas.

Are any of you going to the Xmas Blogger Meet tonight? If so, please come say hi! I'm getting quite nervous now and have erupted in spots. I always do before a blogger meet, stupid nerves! So yeah, come say hi to the spotty nervous one with festive nails!!

OOTD & NOTD : Children in Need - Something Spotty

Saturday, November 19, 2011
Yesterday we had a dress down day in work and had to wear something spotty. We had to donate £2 to Children in Need and were then allowed to wear our own clothes. I did my nails spotty as I didn't think I had any spotty clothes, then I remembered my bargain £5 polka dot dress from Asda.

Dress - ASDA
Belt, Cardigan & Boots - Primark
Tights & Socks - H&M
Brooch (barely seen) - Dainty Roses

ELF White
Piggy Paint Dragon Tears
Barry M Yellow
Barry M Blueberry
No 7 Devils Delight

I was very pleased with how my nails turned out, I had so many comments on them.

Did you do anything in work to raise money for Children in Need?

NOTD - Lime Green Konad

Tuesday, October 18, 2011
Hi guys, following all your fantastic advice on my 'how do you Konad' post I decided to give in and buy some Konad special nail varnishes. They worked! I did it, I cracked Konading!!!

I used Models Own in Lime Green and Pastel Yellow Special Nail Polish by Konad

Two coats of Models Own Lime Green

I stamped the leaf print from Konad plate m83 all over the nails and finished with Sally Hansen Diamond Shine.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out and can't believe how much easier the whole process is when you use the special polishes. I now want loads of different colour polishes and a stack of plates! With Christmas just around the corner I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Week in Photos #30 / Week in Post #15

Monday, October 3, 2011
Firstly, I'm sorry this is late this week. I went to Swansea with the girls, it was messy, I was too tired to even considering blogging last night! I stupidly decided that when I got back to the hotel it was too early, so Sadie and me got a bottle of wine from our hotel room and sat in the hotel bar drinking it with the guy from behind the bar until about 5 in the morning - whoops!

This week has been...

VERY NAUGHTY - this week has seen me breaking my diet so many times!
Pizza, garlic pizza bread, cheese and a strawberry flan with cocoa powder sprinkled on top!
I also had my first ever Nandos, a McDonalds at stupid o'clock in the morning and copious amounts of booze. Oh and a Chinese last night - not looking forward to my weigh in on Wednesday!

EXCITING - Clippy are holding a competition via facebook, we had to design a bag online and email it to them, 8 bags were shortlisted and mine was one! I created mine with one page representing things that I love. I have the severn bridge to represent travelling, food, fashion, Wales, cinema, booze. Its just a little bit of me :) On the other side of the bag I decided to use cute pictures.
If you would like to help me out I would very much appreciate if you follow this link and click 'like'. Some of the other bags have got a ridiculous amount of votes so I'll be shocked if I do win but every vote counts hey! So, pretty please, vote for me!

BOILING - this week has been lovely! This was actually at 17:11 too, not bad for that time hey!

LISTED - there are certain things I always forget to pack when going away, so this time I made a list of the things that I always forget!

PRETTY - I followed this tutorial to do my nails for Swansea. Love the result.

CARNAGE - A night out in Swansea for us lot = carnage. I had a fab time and am still suffering today. This is me and my favourite bar man from the hotel. He allowed us to drink our own drink the hotel bar and even provided us with the glasses to drink it!
I'm wearing his specs.

Week in Post...

This week the postman has bought me

Another order from Flutter Face. I only ordered some bits to make rings/necklace but as a thank you for writing a blog post about my last purchases Joy very kindly sent me two rings for free! Fab, faultless service once again.

What did you get up to last week? Did you receive any exciting items of mail?

Stargazer Shake and Bling Challenge

Thursday, September 29, 2011
Hi all :)

You may have seen this challenge on a few other blogs lately. Stargazer are running a competition (closing date is tomorrow). They sent us four products with which we had to come up with a nail art design. The products included were a nail varnish, a nail art pen, a glitter shaker and some nail diamonds. We selected the colours that we wanted.

I selected the nail art pen in gold, the holo glitter shaker in Onix and the nail polish in shade 105.

I had originally decided to do a 'starry night' theme, it didn't quite go as planned but I'm still very pleased with the result!

I started with with two coats of shade 105.

and then went crazy!
I painted the ends of most nails with a top coat and then dipped them into the glitter shaker. I used the nail art pen to draw the 'moon' on the bottom of my ring finger and to draw the 'stars' in the black glitter. I then added some bling followed by a top coat and sprinkled a little more glitter over all the nails.

My vision for this was the blue being the sky, going up to the black where its getting darker in the night, then the gold & smaller diamanté were stars and the big diamond is the bright North star that you see wherever you go!

What do you think of my attempt? I'm quite pleased with it. Unfortunately I found out about the competition quite late on so haven't had time to try out loads of different looks.

Did you enter this challenge? If so I would love to see what you came up with!

Massive thanks for Dee at Touch Media for allowing me to take part in the challenge.

17 Magnetised Nail Varnishes - All Shades

Thursday, September 22, 2011
I have been very eager to get my hands on 17's range of magnetised nail varnishes since I first saw pictures of them. It was love at first site. I set a reminder in my phone for the launch date and waited (not so patiently). They were due to be launched on the 21st September, I checked boots.com on the 20th and to my joy they were available! I ordered all four shades to be delivered to my house and spent all day today hoping that a) they'd been delivered and b) the postman left them with a neighbour instead of taking them to the depot. I came home to a card from a courier saying I had a parcel next door, it was them, I was very happy!!

They come in four shades. Grey, Blue, Green & Lilac all of which are lovely deep shimmery colours.

The magnet pulls off to reveal the paint brush.

After applying a base coat, one coat of each colour and holding the magnet over the nail for roughly ten seconds straight after application.

As you can see they come out amazingly! I'm so in love with these polishes right now its crazy. They look different in every light and have the most amazing shimmer.

The one problem I will say is that the instructions aren't very clear. The instructions simply say to apply the nail varnish and hold the magnet above while still wet, then paint a top coat when dry. I figured out that the magnet came off the top when I attempted to remove the top. I found that it worked best while holding the magnet in place for ten seconds above each nail. I did one nail at a time.

If you apply the nail varnish on thickly and tilt your head to the side to watch the action you can actually see the nail varnish being pulled up towards the magnet - so clever!

I honestly cannot recommend these polishes enough, yes the instructions weren't clear but when you figure out how to use them they are very easy to use, the effect is memorising and they are very reasonably priced.

You can buy them in selected Boots stores or on-line and they are priced at £5.99 each. They are currently on offer for 3 for 2, which I annoyingly missed out on as the offer started the day after I bought them, serves me right for being so impatient I guess!

After I finished playing I painted all my nails green. (serious photo overload but they are just so pretty!)

with flash
Aren't they adorable?

Have you tried any magnetised nail polishes?
