Through The Keyhole #1

Sunday, November 6, 2011
Hi all, as I love being nosey and I'm pretty sure that most of you do too I thought that I would do a series of 'through the keyhole' posts, each featuring a different room in my house. I'm going to start it off with my 'getting ready room'. This is my favourite room in the house. It holds my make-up, nail varnish, jewellery, handbags and wedding dress.

I love this light shade as it gives off so many patterns around the room. I bought it from No Frills a while back, it only cost about £10.

This is where I do my make-up, the drawers hold most of my make-up. Its actually a really bad position because only half of my face has the natural light on it, but it has to do as there isn't anywhere else! The duvet cover hanging from the side of the wardrobe houses my wedding dress. The monkey has my Race for Life badge and my pass from when I visited the Houses of Parliament around his neck. The flower garland is from some fancy dress event.

These drawers are from The Range. I can't remember how much they cost. They also hold a lot of make-up, mostly my back up products.

The famous nail varnish storage! The shelves are from IKEA. The wire dress is from The Range and the wicker chest was a gift from Spencer's parents, it holds my handbags.

The boiler's home, which doubles up as my shoe cupboard. The pink whistle is from my friend's hen night.

My jewellery. The pink drawers and jewellery box are both from TK Max. These were bought a while ago. The flower hooks are from Homebase.

Wall art from eBay, please ignore the fact that I put the quote up the wrong way around. Fail. It still makes sense though. Sofa bed from No Frills. LOVE Cushion from Primark, pink cushions and wallpaper from Wilkinsons.

Do you like to see other people's home decor and storage? I may show you my kitchen next as I'm quite proud of my pale pink and blue colour scheme.

Week in Photos #35

This week has been...

EXPLOSIVE

Spencer and I went to the local fireworks display last night with my sister, her partner and their daughter. These are a few of my favourite photos from the display.
We weren't sure what Gracie would think of the fireworks, we prepared her by telling her that they go 'BANG'! They have a children's display first with quieter fireworks, Gracie was bored when that one came on. She loved the adults display at first, but again got bored! She did sit there shouting 'bang' for a while!
The display was brilliant. They do them to music which always makes it quite dramatic. Thankfully the weather stayed nice.

COLD
Wrapped up warm ready for the fireworks!

NEW

We finally got around to replacing the blinds in the bathroom! The top photo are the blinds that were in the bathroom when we moved in. They are a lovely colour but they are metal, which means that they have rusted really badly! We decided to get some cheap bamboo blinds from IKEA!

DIY-TASTIC

Along with replacing the blinds we also added another IKEA shelf to my ever expanding nail varnish collection and painted the feature wall in our bedroom with Wilkinson's Pearl Grey.

INVITING
We received an invite for a wedding in March. I love a good wedding :) The bride is English and the groom is Welsh hence the rose and daffodil joining.

STOLEN
Cheeky Kitty helping herself to my glass of water!

TASTY
I decided to have a go at making Philly meatballs. They were amazing. Recipe coming to a screen near you soon....

CUTE

Flick, my mam and dad's cat Alfie, Kitty and Flick sleeping together :)
Alfie is one of the cats that I grew up with and he is still going strong. He is a HUGE tabby and is so loveable. I love having cwtches with Alf when I visit my parents.

REFRESHING
Can't beat a Crabbies :)

MUSICAL
I've had my iPhone on shuffle while doing all the DIY and house work this weekend. Certain songs come on and get me so excited! Stereophonics Traffic is one of these.

I've also enjoyed watching:
Top Boy
The Hangover Part 2
V for Vendetta
Hollyoaks (they finally got him and what an epic way to conclude the story!)

What have you been doing / watching this week? Did you go to a fireworks display?

Nail Varnish Display Storage & Hauling

Thursday, August 11, 2011
Hi, how are you all in this horrid weather? I'm good, yet very nervous about the Bristol meet tomorrow! Today's mission was to find an outfit for tomorrow, it wasn't very successful although I do love my brogues :)

Brogues, one of the many things that when I first saw I was heard saying "you'll never see me in them". Fast forward a couple of months, hello brogues! The main thing that I wanted to buy was brogues so I was very pleased to snap these gorgeous tan ones up in Peacocks for £8 in the sale!

I love this dress. I really want a dress with cherries on so got quite excited when I saw this in the Peacocks sale for just £7! I got it home and realised that the zip is broken! It didn't say that it was reduced due to being damaged so I'm not happy at all. I hope that they will take it back.

Leggings and bangles in Primark.

Another fail in the dress department, why? Because the dress that I fell in love with is actually a playsuit!! Such a shame because I really do like this, unfortunately I don't get on with playsuits.

So, it looks like tomorrow I'm wearing brogues, leggings and bracelets haha!

The moral of the story, try things on before you buy!

Nail Varnish Storage

I LOVE my new nail varnish storage!!!

The shelves are nice and thick which means that the width takes two nail polishes. They are from IKEA and cost £5.19 each, which I think is quite a bargain. I couldn't decide whether to sort my polishes into brands or colours, I went with colours and am really pleased with how it looks.
The prettiest wall in my house!!

How do you store your nail varnishes? Do you prefer colour or brand grouping?

If you're attending the #swbloggermeet tomorrow don't forget to say hi!

IKEA Trip - What I wore, What I bought

Monday, August 8, 2011
Hi all, how are you? I do love having a Monday off work, it was so nice to sleep in until 9:30 this morning!
What are you up to? I may attempt to make a chocolate fridge cake a little later, as seen on Gretal Rabbit's blog. Looks yum doesn't it? No baking, WIN!

I went to IKEA yesterday, my main aim was to get some nail varnish display type storage and somewhere pretty to store my palettes. I didn't find anything suitable for the palettes so if you know of any pretty bargains suitable for that purpose please let me know! I bought three shelves that should be ideal for my nail varnish storage. They didn't come with screws and we forgot to buy some, quite annoying as Spencer did plan on putting them up last night!

I bought...

I can never get the icing to look perfect on my cupcakes, these nozzles look like a nice size so I'm hoping they will aid me on my mission to create the perfect cupcakes! This cost £5.19.

I bought three of these, it came to £15.57 for the three and they should hold quite a few nail varnishes. They came in a choice of black, white or natural wood which you could paint yourself. It is actually a picture ledge frame, here it is on their website.

Doughnuts :) These are an IKEA must! My friends and I were joking about how every time we go to IKEA we all always buy candles and the big bags of mini Dimes! I didn't buy either this time because I have so many candles left from the last trip and I didn't see any Dimes. My other two IKEA constants are batteries and doughnuts, which I did buy this time!

I wore...
Trousers, Blouse and Cardigan all Primark
Shoes - Peacocks
Bangles - Primark
Ring - Dainty Roses

PS. Can everyone please go and show the lovely Kelly some love as she is feeling low and would like cheering up! Blog / Twitter.
