Week in Photos #36

Monday, November 14, 2011
This week has been...

EXCITING
My sister had her scan Thursday and found out that they are having a baby boy! They have a daughter already so this is great news!

YUM
Home made peanut butter cups, heaven

Faggots and mushy peas, one of my favourite meals. My boss is from Newcastle and they don't have faggots there, are they just a Welsh thing?

Home made turkey & Stilton burgers :)

I can't have a hangover without a pizza! Iceland double pizza in sweet chilli, a bit too spicy for my liking, but I am a wuss!

Weight Watchers Chicken Curry, 8 Pro Points

Wispa Gold how I love thee

MOVEMBER
I bought this ring a while back from Glitter and Carousels. I plan on wearing it quite often through Movember.

CHILDLIKE
Advent calenders were two for £3 in Wilkinson's so I had to get some, my friends found it quite amusing that I'm 26 and still have an advent calender!

CUTE
Kitty snuggling up in the feet part of my blanket

WAVY
My hair is so wavy when its wet, but turns into a frizzy mess when dried.

STRAIGHT
so I straighten it

MAGNETISED
Currently wearing my 17 Magnetised nail varnish in grey - love it.

CHRISTMAS
The Coca Cola advert was played during the X Factor break on Saturday night, this means that it is now officially Christmas! Time to get excited/panic!

Other non-photographed news:
This post is a day later than usual because I was suffering from a horrific hangover yesterday. My girls night in turned into a bit of a crazy house party when Spencer bought half of the pub back with him! I really need to learn my limit when it comes to alcohol. I seem to think that I am invincible and just carry on drinking! Two bottles of wine and some MOET later I really wasn't invincible! Still suffering today.

How are you all? Have you got up to anything exciting this past week?

17 Magnetised Nail Varnishes - All Shades

Thursday, September 22, 2011
I have been very eager to get my hands on 17's range of magnetised nail varnishes since I first saw pictures of them. It was love at first site. I set a reminder in my phone for the launch date and waited (not so patiently). They were due to be launched on the 21st September, I checked boots.com on the 20th and to my joy they were available! I ordered all four shades to be delivered to my house and spent all day today hoping that a) they'd been delivered and b) the postman left them with a neighbour instead of taking them to the depot. I came home to a card from a courier saying I had a parcel next door, it was them, I was very happy!!

They come in four shades. Grey, Blue, Green & Lilac all of which are lovely deep shimmery colours.

The magnet pulls off to reveal the paint brush.

After applying a base coat, one coat of each colour and holding the magnet over the nail for roughly ten seconds straight after application.

As you can see they come out amazingly! I'm so in love with these polishes right now its crazy. They look different in every light and have the most amazing shimmer.

The one problem I will say is that the instructions aren't very clear. The instructions simply say to apply the nail varnish and hold the magnet above while still wet, then paint a top coat when dry. I figured out that the magnet came off the top when I attempted to remove the top. I found that it worked best while holding the magnet in place for ten seconds above each nail. I did one nail at a time.

If you apply the nail varnish on thickly and tilt your head to the side to watch the action you can actually see the nail varnish being pulled up towards the magnet - so clever!

I honestly cannot recommend these polishes enough, yes the instructions weren't clear but when you figure out how to use them they are very easy to use, the effect is memorising and they are very reasonably priced.

You can buy them in selected Boots stores or on-line and they are priced at £5.99 each. They are currently on offer for 3 for 2, which I annoyingly missed out on as the offer started the day after I bought them, serves me right for being so impatient I guess!

After I finished playing I painted all my nails green. (serious photo overload but they are just so pretty!)

Aren't they adorable?

Have you tried any magnetised nail polishes?

How do you Konad?

Wednesday, August 31, 2011
Hi guys, I hope you don't mind the late night post! I wasn't going to post tonight as we went to watch The Inbetweeners (hilarious by the way!). I've just had a cup of coffee and an wide awake so thought I'd pop up this post that I took the pictures for the other day!

Konad...how do you use it?

After several failed stamping attempts I decided to sit down with a few nail varnishes and Konad plate m83 to see if I could get the stamp to transfer with any of them, the results weren't very successful as you can see below...

MUA - Hardly there

Eyeko - quite promising but only part of the design

17 - no transfer at all!

Rimmel - this one picked up a lot of the image clearly, but missed parts

Barry M - hardly there

ELF - picked up a lot of the design but again missed chunks

No.7 - just a tiny dot!

This is where you guys come in, how do you Konad? Am I doing something wrong or do I just have to admit defeat and buy the Konad Special paints? Do you have any Konad hints and tips?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

NOTD - Leopard Print

Monday, August 22, 2011
Hi girls, how are you all? I'm good, day one of a three day working week done! I'm going to Reading this weekend to visit Spencer's brother, as a result I've booked Thursday and Friday off work :)

This NOTD is a complete rip off! I saw it on Kim at the SW Blogger meet and loved it so much that I decided to copy of her! I used different nail polishes to Kim but am very pleased with how it turned out!

Do you love it? I do :)

This is how I did it...

2 coats of 17 Wave for base
Eyeko Punk Polish for dots
Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner for markings

As you can see from my mess the dots really don't have to be neat! I used a dotting tool, if you don't have one of these a kirby grip is a good alternative!

I then used my eyeliner to draw random squiggles around the dots and on the nails! The downside to using eyeliner for this is that it takes ages to dry and smudges easily. I've since ordered some nail art pens so will use these from now on!

I then applied two coats of top coat to seal the eyeliner in. SIMPLES!!

Do you like the leopard print nail trend? What are your favourite colours?

NOTD - Gold, Glitz & Print

Thursday, June 23, 2011
Hi all, how are you today? I'm getting quite excited about next week now. Me and the other half are off to London to watch the Glee concert, cannot wait! I just read that Puck is singing 'Fat Bottomed Girls' that will of course be dedicated to me haha!

When we went out on Saturday we had a black and gold theme, this is how I did my nails for the theme...

messy right hand as always!

I started with a coat of Avon strong results as my nails are so weak lately, this actually seemed to work quite well as a base coat as I had no traces of colour left after removing. I then used two coats of 17 Sphinx. When that had dried I used my Eyeko eyeliner to draw on the 'c' shapes and then used my dotting tool to add the glitter between the 'c' shapes. This was surprisingly easy to do and I am very pleased with the result. I finished with two layers of my top coat (can't remember which one I used!).

What do you think of it? I love the glitter bits :) I think I'm going to attempt a rainbow leopard print effect for my trip to London next week.

O & F OTN 9.6.11 - Meal

Friday, June 10, 2011
Happy Friday :) Is everyone looking forward to the weekend? I'm having another quiet one, I've strangely been enjoying the quiet weekends lately, so unlike me!

Spencer and I bought a Groupon for a meal at The Farmer's Daughter in Newport ages ago, we finally used it last night! We had a three course meal for £26 - bargainous! The place and the food was amazing, highly recommended! If another Groupon comes out for them I'm there!

It was a lovely day so I wore my maxi dress, inspired by Rai I teamed it with a mis matching cardi, and I like, what do you think of the combo?

Excuse my dodgy facial expressions, it was a rush!
Also excuse the mess of my house, we're having a clear out!

Outfit
Dress & Cardi - Peacocks
Ring - Primark

Face
Foundation - Rimmel 25 hour applied with Sigma F80
Powder - Rimmel True Match blended with Sigma F15
Blush - Benefit Posie Tint
Lips - All for Eve by Daniel Sandler
Eyelids - 17 Glitter Eyeliner rubbed in with Sigma E25
Eyelashes - Avon Super Extend Mascara

Talking of Groupon have you seen today's amazing deal? For £49 two people get an overnight stay at Park Inn, Walsall, dinner, breakfast and admission to either West Midlands Safari Park or Cadbury World - awesome right! I'm currently trying to convince Spencer that we have a spare £49!
