Review : Smashbox Bionic Mascara

Saturday, December 10, 2011
I'm going to start this post by saying a big fat WOW! This is another of the items that I received from CheapSmells.com and it has amazed me.

Packaging

Nothing special, just a simple mascara design. I wouldn't really except anything else from a mascara in the packaging department. Nice, clean packaging.

Product
I love a good mascara and this one didn't let me down. I received the mascara in Jet Black which is the colour I would have chosen myself.

I am lucky enough to have long eyelashes, my issue is that they don't curl very well, and when they do it doesn't hold.

This mascara not only lengthened and thickened my eyelashes in tremendous style, but it somehow managed to curl them and make that curl stay! You may have seen my excited tweet when I first started playing with this mascara.

Left eye with mascara, right eye no mascara.

To achieve this result I did apply a lot of mascara, as I do with all my other mascaras.  As you can see it hasn't clumped and has coated most of my lashes, even the smaller ones. Despite the thickness of the wand it really is easy to work with.

Would I recommend this product?
Most definitely. This is one of the best mascaras I've tried in ages, actually probably the best mascara I have ever tried! It lengthens, curls and thickens your lashes. What more could a girl want?

Availability
My Smashbox Mascara was sent to me from Cheap Smells. Their website states that this product is usually dispatched within one working day. Their last order date to the UK in time for Christmas is 18 December 2011. Cheap Smells deliver free within the UK. You can view their other delivery options for outside the UK here.

Price
The mascara costs £12.95 from Cheap Smells, although the RRP is £16.50. You get 7.7ml of product. This is slightly more than I would normally pay for a mascara, but I tend to buy high street products. Having seen this product in action I definitely think it is value for money at this price, I would re-purchase.

Have you tried Smashbox Bionic Mascara? What is your holy grail mascara?

Eyeko Magic Mascara

Sunday, July 3, 2011
I'm always on the quest for a good mascara. I was impressed with Eyeko Big Eyes mascara (review here) so I couldn't resist giving this one a whirl.

First impressions - the packaging WOW! This is the prettiest mascara I have ever seen! It really fits with the 'magic' theme. There are little diamantés all over the tube.

I am quite lucky in that I'm blessed with long eyelashes, my problem is that a) the ends are light so they don't stand out and b) they're too straight.

Eyeko say : The 3 in 1 formula inks up lashes a treat and is magic to use! Just glide the wand from root to tip to magically transform limp lashes into a flirtatious flutter! Reveal instant full body volume; marvel at the extended length and applaud the amazing curl with astounding resilience.

The mascara brush is quite a big brush, at first I thought it clumpy and that it may be difficult to apply, I was wrong. The brush makes application really easy and the mascara isn't too gloopy which is always good.

It doesn't clump my lashes together, it just thickens them and gives them a lovely little flick.

It takes a few coats to build up a nice dramatic effect but for me the end result is worth it.

Have you tried any Eyeko mascaras? What is your favourite mascara?

Review - Eyeko Big Eyes Mascara

Sunday, March 13, 2011
Last night I used Eyeko big eyes mascara for the first time. I was pleased with the results. It was quite messy to apply, I seemed to get a lot more around my eye than I do with other mascaras. It had also flaked a bit by the end of the night but other than those two small complaints I was really happy with it. I found that it held the curl in my lashes a lot more than other mascaras I have tried. I have long lashes but they are straight so am always after the curl! It also contains vitamin B which is said to prevent dryness, premature breakage and promote lash growth., whether or not it does I don't yet know! I also love that it comes in a squeezy tube!

You can buy this mascara from Eyeko here for £8.95. If you're looking into buying it it is worthwhile to check out their gift sets as it works out a lot cheaper. Also if you do order anything from Eyeko you can use my ambassador code which will get you a free gift if you spend over £15. My code is E14173. I get 15% commission on all purchases used with that code - however I do not let that sway me towards promoting Eyeko, as you can see from the pictures it is a genuinely good mascara.
